About the Art
Each piece is inherently one of a kind in color and hand-made by Artists Nora Swanson and Dale Brandt. Our simple geometric shapes resonate with both ancient and new cultural jewelry aesthetics, infusing the art with a classic timelessness that suits both classy and casual lifestyles.
The Science - Why is this jewelry so different?
There are no colorant dyes or paints on our jewelry. Only a super-durable and environmentally friendly clear-coat to protect from scratches and stop further patina oxidation.
We create genuine oxidized patinas
In case you are unfamiliar with exactly what a patina is: Patina art is dynamic, by nature and in the studio. A host of variables affect this process so colors do have a range. We like this, as it makes things more unique.
"Patina" refers to the oxidation of the copper or its combination alloys (brass and bronze for example) to create an appealing coloration that is a statement of beauty and art. A real patina combines with the copper molecules on the surface of the metal and becomes part of the metal. The green copper roof one sees on some historic buildings came about as a result of the copper combining with sulfur, various oxides of nitrogen and other compounds mixed with rainfall or even suspended in the natural humidity of the air. We have recreated this concept in the studio environment to produce our one-of-a-kind jewelry. People who see our work are intrigued by this concept and buy based on novelty as well as the beauty of the pieces.
